Comme Windows 10 n’est plus supporté, je m’achète un nouveau PC (plus performant !). À une époque, j’étais plutôt calé en informatique, mais c’était il y a longtemps. Je vais avoir 50 ans en novembre, donc c’est aussi un cadeau d’anniversaire que je me fais.
J’ai environ 1400 heures sur FO4. J’ai aussi commencé Fallout-London et New Vegas. Pour diverses raisons, je n’ai presque pas joué depuis un an, mais j’ai bien l’intention de m’y remettre sérieusement pour les années à venir.
J’ai un peu peur de faire une erreur en changeant de PC. Par exemple :
– La plupart de mes jeux (tous les Fallout) sont sur Steam. Est-ce que je peux utiliser mes 2 PC sur le même compte Steam ?
À quoi dois-je m’attendre ?
– Même question pour GOG Galaxy, où j’ai Fallout-London.
– Idem pour Loot.
– Et qu’est-ce que je deviens de mes sauvegardes ? J’ai tellement de questions que ça me rend anxieux. Est-ce que quelqu’un a déjà fait la même transition ?
Windows 10 a été abandonné partout, donc c’est probable. Est-ce qu’il existe une page web, un tutoriel ou une vidéo YouTube qui explique tout ça ? D’un autre côté… Ça fait tellement longtemps que je n’ai pas recommencé une nouvelle partie, et je n’ai jamais testé le mode survival vanilla.
J’ai oublié énormément de choses sur l’univers et les quêtes de Fallout 4. Je pense faire une installation propre et me lancer dans une partie survival vanilla. Ce serait presque comme si je découvrais le jeu pour la première fois !
Ce serait une super expérience, non ?
Je suis sûr que certains d’entre vous aimeraient pouvoir redécouvrir FO4 comme au premier jour. Toute aide serait la bienvenue !
Congrats on the new PC. Fyi though, you know you don’t NEED a new PC to upgrade Windows? You can upgrade from 10 to 11 on your existing PC. I’d probably recommend doing that anyway, so that if you’re porting stuff over, you’re doing it from 11 to 11.
That isn’t necessarily true. There is actually a hardware requirement (TPM) that needs to be met. Lots of PCs are going to remain on 10 or get scrapped.
I’ve just enabled TPM in my bios after using it to hard lock staying on Win10 for the last few years. Sad times…
Yup. I’m staring at that stark choice too. At least for my 2019 vintage PC I primarily game on, I have the option. I’m sure some slightly older machines of mine are hopeless. But I’ll be honest, I had a fit over the change from 7 to 10 and it ended up being….ok. So maybe 11 will not be so awful.
Hold up, 2019 is vintage now?? Jesus…I just whacked a 4060 in mine and it’s fine. CPU is my bottle neck now, but there isn’t much that AM4 can do more than my 3700X so if I’m going anywhere I’ll need a whole new build with AM5 socket, DDR5, etc etc. I think the only thing I could salvage is my m2s… 7 to 10 was okay, I remember trying it on a colleagues machine and thinking this is fine, better even. But I’ve used 11 on colleague’s machines and it’s totally different, even just the context menu. Can’t find anything anywhere.
Your 2 PCs will work fine on steam. Steam will automatically carry your saves over to the new pc. The biggest issues I faced on my new PC were getting mods up and running , adjusting my settings..
Yes. I’m most concerned about my mods.
I had too much trouble getting older mods running. You could try copying your entire Fallout 4 folder and pasting it on the new pc. It cut my troubleshooting time down and installed the older mods quicker.
You should be fine as long as you’ve enabled cloud saves, or more specifically not disabled cloud saves.
