    >Sticks are hall effect I’ve heard of ♫ deck the halls with boughs of holly ♫ but… « Deck competitor’s sticks are hall-y »?!

  2. Alice Daniels · 2 weeks ago

Sounded very believable until i read the hall effect part, nintendo would never add those

  3. Finn Arndt · 2 weeks ago

Yeah I’m just joking, if 9 was releasing soon they would have revealed it at the TGAs

  4. Hudson Clark · 2 weeks ago

I wonder if casual players and parents will end up confusing Switch2 exclusive games for Switch games like it happened with the Wii U, bcs atm I don’t see why that would not happen again.

  5. Stella Edwards · 2 weeks ago

says the dock only does 4K30, despite the already released OLED dock being capable of 4k60 with sufficient hardware lol k

    1. Elli Kuhn · 1 day ago

Ye thats sus as hell any modern shit supports 4k 60 display

  6. Anna Adams · 2 weeks ago

« I don’t know why they said they are from the future, I think that was some kind of weird joke. I didn’t ask them about that either. » They lost sanity there if they didn’t got the joke, who isn’t weird and pretty straightforward.

  7. Guillaume Lemoine · 2 weeks ago

I wouldnt believe anything on r/switch2, and I especially wouldnt believe anything their mods vouch for.

    1. August Butler · 2 weeks ago

Honestly I don’t blame you. Not just because hoaxes are common, or that the submygoodcool is mostly speculation, or that a conspiracy theory started on there that I worked for Nintendo, or that we like to have fun with the concept of a submygoodcool but because a couple months ago we had a hoaxer do something like this where they wanted me to post it and they ended up using the switch 2 logo from our submygoodcool’s banner icon, which then I had to remove it. That was embarrassing and I should’ve been able to sleuth that it was not real from there. (They also had some other circumstantial evidence that I thought was better than it actually was to post it but that’s irrelevant) I’d recommend using the remindme bot in mygoodcool to get a reminder for when they actually post the- (I don’t know how specific I am allowed to be as to what the evidence is because the reason they gave as to why I cannot share it is that it supposedly can be traced back to the person), but I can tell you I did everything I could to make sure the evidence is real. They actually have access to Switch 2 hardware & information we don’t currently have leaked anywhere else. \[\*also it’s r/NintendoSwitch2\] edit: Also maybe I was a bit more careful this time

      1. Daniel Thompson · 2 weeks ago

If you have access to the backside pictures. Is BEE-001 printed on it?

        1. Isamu Ueno · 2 weeks ago

Why would it when that is the cartridge format, it would be on the game cart, the same way the Switch carts all have HAC-008 on them.

          1. Kenji Sakai · 2 weeks ago

Look again if you have original Switch. It also says HAC-001 on the main unit (it would say HEG if you have OLED, or HDH for Lite)

          2. Hideaki Fukuda · 6 days ago

Cartridge format? What are you talking about HAC-001 is also on the main unit on switch Its on all peripherals HAC-XXX

        2. Evelyn Kelly · 6 days ago

Why would it be anything else? BEE is the retail code, the shipment data 100% confirms that.

          1. Stefanie Schuler · 5 days ago

If it is bee on this leaked unit then it just adds to the credibility

          2. Simon Rocher · 5 days ago

Gotcha. Probably should have asked what the code says instead of asking if it is BEE-001 haha. Would make it more credible if the leaker didn’t previously know of this detail Inversely, if it does not, I’m curious what it says instead. If something like CMB then that’s a prototype, not finalized unit. There also would be a code for devkits but I’m not sure what it would say if not CMB

We will see in a few days. I am excited

      2. Lila Sutton · 2 weeks ago

« I’ve been fooled once before » is not the vote of confidence I was looking for to legitimize this leak lol

        1. Robert Hudson · 2 days ago

Exactly. I don’t blame you but the other option was no leak at all. They said that the information could be traced back to them which is why they arent sharing what they sent to me yet. I don’t know how it wont be traced back to them after the date they said to post it but I didn’t ask them about that.

    2. Miyako Morita · 2 days ago

I do not hold much faith in a mod that seems genuinely confused that the person joked about being from the future.

  8. Luca Bergmann · 2 weeks ago

an *announcement* would hurt current switch sales as buyers would just go « Oh, i’ll just get the Switch 2 when it comes out ». They’re double dipping by getting the last push of holiday switches (perhaps to finally surpass PS2 or DS all time sales) *and* getting the Switch 2 sales in 2025. If the switch 2 was dropping in time for holiday 2024, it would have been announced months ago. The Switch was announced in oct. 2016, came out March 2017 PS5 was shown in june 2020, came out in november 2020.

We’re really getting GTA 9 before we get GTA 6

Because they want rubes like me to actually upgrade. I held off on buying the OLED since I expected Switch 2 sooner than later. Now I am just gonna buy both because I am a rube 😀

  10. Hiroaki Kawano · 2 weeks ago

How would they know that the joycons use hall effect sticks? Do they feel significantly different from potentiometer sticks? I’ve never seen anyone say that they’ve felt different, likely because every joystick feels different in some way

  11. Daniel Porter · 2 weeks ago

$399 for an LCD version and $499 for an Oled version? 🙂

  13. Nina Tessier · 2 weeks ago

  14. Richard West · 2 weeks ago

on one hand this sounds like bullshit. But on the other, « the magnets themselves are buttons » is such an odd detail and it sounds very « Nintendo » to me in a way I can’t explain. Like, of course they’d turn the attachment mechanism into an input.

    1. Jonathan Kruse · 5 days ago

This jives with the original hardware leak. The location of cutouts where magnets would likely be lined up with the joycons shoulder buttons. I’d guess that the joycons buttons actually have steel pieces inside and the magnets themselves are on the switch2 main unit, but it could be the other way around, or both could have magnets.

  15. Oscar Alexander · 2 weeks ago

Give me all the copium u got but I honestly believe this is real. If you look through the comments (I looked through all), he explains quite a few things about the hardware. And he says that there is already a themed console for a Game with a « 9 » in it (MARIO KART 9?!) im production/planning. Hall effect sticks are insane, that would be the first console company going hall effect.

  16. Sakura Noda · 2 weeks ago

I can already imagine scott the woz covering all of this years later

  17. Piper Knight · 2 weeks ago

    >because they want to make extra controller sales. That can be accomplished by offering a plethora of colors and game themed controllers.

  19. Maria Curtis · 2 weeks ago

Prepared to be proven wrong, but unless Nintendo are really learning from their Wii U lesson, calling it ‘Nintendo Switch 2’ seems so unlike them

  20. Eden Rogers · 2 weeks ago

If this is true, I like that Nintendo decided to stick with a brand, a design and a concept instead of doing everything all over again as always.

  21. Alexandre Julien · 2 weeks ago

Umm okay so where is the evidence? Anyone can sit here and claim to have proof. Why wait til Christmas to post?

    1. Charlotte Brown · 2 weeks ago

From the mod’s pinned comment on the post: >This person sent me the evidence that they apparently can not share openly yet. The reason they gave is that it somehow could have their identity traced to them (at least that’s how I understood it). >The reason they sent me evidence is because I…
was going to delete this post if they didn’t send anything since they didn’t have a source. >Somehow, (without being specific), they did actually have evidence that they sent me, so I absolutely will allow this private information as a source even if most people cannot access it yet. > Anyways, As far as I can tell it’s real. I’ve checked everything I am able to with the evidence provided.

      1. Ingrid Kunz · 2 weeks ago

I don’t have an issue with private sources. Anonymous or private sources can still be credible. I have personally dealt with them on several occasions. That said, I always recommend staying skeptical until you can verify things for yourself. Even when I’ve known something to be true, I wouldn’t blame anyone for questioning it. For example, I leaked something anonymously last year that some sites picked up, on the condition that they wouldn’t reveal the evidence that I shared with them.

    2. Hotaru Matsushima · 2 weeks ago

apparently he showed proof to the mods of the submygoodcool? There is the comment from the moderator where he says the leak is legit.

    3. Benedikt Bock · 2 weeks ago

Bro trust me I have proof of the switch 2, but please wait. I held it in my hands……put it in my pants………kissed it….

    4. Chiharu Narita · 1 week ago

The mods verified it in some capacity, that’s why it COULD be true

    5. Megumi Tashiro · 1 week ago

Say they were a dev or something that got access to it on Friday 13th they longer they wait the less likely Nintendo would be to figure out who they are / work for because they were showing it to more people every day

    6. Natalia Wilson · 6 days ago

Theory: Because OP is a Nintendo shareholder and wants Nintendo to sell as many Switches as possible this holiday season, which ends on Christmas (shopping tanks after that). Announcing after the shopping season will safe his/her dividends/stock growth potential.

  22. Alexa Diaz · 2 weeks ago

My brother in christ its a mygoodcool moderator that wants to use this as a gateway into brokering more leaks, why are you so eager for this not to be real lol, just have some fun.

I swear people take this shit too seriously. For me it’s just fun

      1. Jonah McKinney · 6 days ago

Yeah, this is why I love this sub lol. Because you can have some fun speculation. If you treat these leaks very seriously, you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment.

  24. Hideaki Takada · 1 week ago

Nintendo had no reason to include an IR blaster on the R JoyCon and did it anyway, and Nintendo also lost the stick drift class action lawsuit, which now costs them money per controller sold. It’s not completely farfetched to spend the additional 50 yen per controller produced to save them thousands on honoring repair requests.

  25. Leo O'Brien · 1 week ago

    >not been allowed to turn it on. >LCD screen Is this something you can know without turning it on?

    1. Louane Lopez · 1 week ago

not really, neither would you be able to tell they’re hall effect sticks

    2. Sofia Michel · 1 week ago

Lmao crazy that is even a question and people are saying you wouldn’t be able to tell. OLED screens are distinctly harder than LCD screens. Literally run the tip of your finger against a regular switch vs an OLED switch and you’ll feel how « squishy » the regular feels compared to it.

  26. Katharina Lehmann · 1 week ago

A game with 9? Seems a bit early for Tekken 9 but okay.

  27. Antonia Wirth · 1 week ago

The same reason to be hyped about any console? The ps2 controller was basically the exact same as the ps1 controller. The only difference aside from the ability to play dvds was the improved hardware The hardware in the switch is ass. It can barely run its own games. The performance of tears of the kingdom is awful

They’ll make an OLED model, eventually they should be aware of how well received the jump was, they’re just double dipping I was gonna hold out until the OLED model but I think I will get a launch one too for homebrew purposes.

  33. Grace Richardson · 1 week ago

It’s been reported many times that it will launch with an LCD to save on costs. A couple years in we will get an OLED version again I suppose. If they get a nice panel, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s a bit of a tough pill to swallow for sure.

I have my doubts about a day 1 game bundle. Also the system will no doubt be a bit heavier then the current Switch as it’s going to need a larger battery.

    1. Brianna Wright · 1 week ago

      >I have my doubts about a day 1 game bundle Yeah that’s the fakest part for me. Don’t recall them ever doing that in the past, and why would they. The people that buy a console year one don’t need special editions to entice them. And they don’t need it to sell more game copies either. BotW (just the Switch port) *outsold the console itself* during the first month.

        1. Blake Fisher · 1 week ago

    2. Eleanor Phillips · 5 days ago

Same size as og switch games, no nub. But the switch 2 games won’t fit in switch 1.

  41. Nolan Bryant · 1 week ago

Hall effect joysticks have a reasonably different and identifiable, more « loose » gliding feel to them, if that makes sense. It all depends on if the op has used one before

  42. Mary Lambert · 1 week ago

    > LCD Screen So they upgraded to OLED then downgraded back to LCD? I was with it until I read that lol

    1. Martine Boucher · 1 week ago

isn’t lcd cheaper to produce? Also they can make the OLED model later and sell it at a premium price when the hardware itself is cheaper to produce.

    2. Olive Woods · 6 days ago

I won’t opine about the rest of it, but all the past rumours have pointed to 8″ LCD on the launch model. If he had instead said OLED then I’d be suspicious.

    >another special edition SKU is themed around a « game with a 9 » [a very obvious hint at Mario Kart 9?] No way they are going to launch the system with Mario Kart 9 and make me wait until October 2025 for 3D Mario, a whole 8 years from Odyssey

I hardly would say there’s evidence someone stole it, just as likely is someone who has access to it… Or, most likely, just faked it (saying it would be a good fake is hardly proof when we’ve seen many good fakes – that is, unless he showed OS + new game running on it) I have a hard time believing Nintendo would call Mario Kart 10 as « Mario Kart 9). Also having a special SKU at or anywhere near launch LMFAO fat chance

“game with a 9”? Like a Dragon 9 confirmed motherfuckers

      1. Landon Holmes · 5 days ago

This would honestly be not incredibly surprising – it would be a big get for Nintendo, the IX remake is supposed to be complete already, and Nintendo and Squeenix have a pretty good relationship these days. But yeah, probably Mario Kart 9. First party console edition ftw

        1. Finn Morris · 5 days ago

I mean typically Nintendo wants two of their flagship franchises represented in year one a new console and Smash Bros and Zelda are both years out so Mario Kart and 3D Mario make the most sense. Along with Metroid Prime 4 hopefully.

    1. Margot Morris · 5 days ago

I’m pretty sure it’s the final fantasy 9 remake

      1. Brigitte Schulte · 5 days ago

The funny thing is that Mario Kart Tour is considered Mario Kart 9 for Nintendo. So unless Nintendo changed their minds on this its either a fake leak or he is talking about another game.

        1. Masaru Kondo · 5 days ago

Looking through the thread, OP only claims to have heard about an all-white model and a tie-in model. He only held a dark gray unit. So it’s possible he’s making some things up

I’d prefer the base model being LCD tbh. Having that money go towards better specs like more RAM is far more important and increases the baseline capabilities of the system. Stuff like screen and storage can always be upgraded down the road.

  55. Alexa Burke · 4 days ago

Lol, OLED is expensive as hell. Makes perfect sense

    1. Lucas Brunet · 4 days ago

Yeah they absolutely are. I love OLED screens, they just look so good, but it would just make the price too high

  56. Steven Hicks · 3 days ago

From the OG post, the OP mentioned that they were simply told that the Switch 2 joycons are hall-effect, not that they’re able to somehow surmise it via touch alone.

  57. Jacques Michel · 3 days ago

Maybe there will be some third party replacement screens. I also wouldn’t mind a premium SKU at 500 bucks with an OLED and more storage.

  61. Maxwell Perkins · 1 day ago

The device was certainly not sent by post. A Nintendo employee will have brought it. And he said something about it. Perhaps there was also something in writing enclosed.
