Because it only works one way. The Switch 2 version includes the Switch 1 game + the Switch 2 patch. The Switch 1 version does not include the Switch 2 patch.

Yeah I apologize I did not see that. First time I’ve seen a game do that. Wish they do that more often

that’s how a lot (maybe all?) of the switch 2 games with s1 versions are

        1. Lina Freitag · 1 week ago

There are a few exceptions. Sonic X Shadows Generations for example is not a « Switch 2 Edition », the Switch 2 cartridge will not be read by a Switch 1.

On paper, all “Switch 2 Editions” (precisely with this term in the name) offer the same thing.

  2. Ella Wolff · 3 weeks ago

I think what the system uses for switch 2 editions is just the switch 1 version with an upgrade pack

  3. Patricia Martin · 3 weeks ago

if using the same account, I don’t see why not. your account owns the digital key tied to the game.

If you’re wanting to share the game with your brother, I would highly recommend just get the system stand alone and then spend the extra 20 bucks and get the physical copy of the game. Digital copies of the game are extremely difficult to share, especially since the Nintendo change the virtual game cards. The switch 2 physical copy plays on both switch one and switch 2

Tbh I only got it because I wanted the preorder bonus from best buy

        1. Camille Colas · 1 day ago

A ZA themed keyboard and mouse mat. Has a map of luminous city. Had I known what the Pokémon center was offering in the beginning (plush) I would have gotten that.

          1. Emily O'Brien · 1 day ago

I thought I preordered with the plush. Apparently never did. So I ended up getting the pin set.

Also, thank you for telling me.

For physical games: yes, the Switch 2 Edition can be used on the Switch 1. But you’ll only get the Switch 1 version, obviously. As for digital games, like the one in the bundle… I have no idea. If anyone knows, I’d be interested.

For people who downvote, I simply invite you to insert a “Switch 2 Edition” cartridge into a Switch 1.

  6. Lauren Gomez · 3 weeks ago

It should work as a virtual game card for the switch 1.

    1. Adeline Parker · 5 days ago

It’s ZA Switch 2 Edition so it may as well not be insertable to S1. I wouldn’t suggest to OP it’ll certainly work. It may or it may not, unless someone with first hand experience can confirm or there is official info/FAQ…

Whenever I bought silk song switch 2 edition it let me play on switch 1, I imagine it’ll work

      2. Leo Carpenter · 5 days ago

The Switch 2 enhancements don’t transfer over, but the game is still playable

  7. Alice Legros · 2 weeks ago

Sounds just like 10$ upgrade pack. I can use my totk sw2 cartridge on switch lite, so i doubt that here is different situation

    1. Bernard Voisin · 2 weeks ago

Yeah that was my bad I did not see that it included that.

  8. Misaki Moriya · 2 weeks ago

Yeah. You can. I still have my Oled Switch & the MK world virtual card showed up on the Oled when i bought the switch 2. The one possible issue is that you might see the Switch 2 edition of the game but you might not see the switch 1 edition of the game.

Good looking balconies does not equate to good gameplay as far as i can tell

    1. Mats Kleber · 3 days ago

It tells a lot about the effort put onto the game

  10. Alexandra Horton · 2 weeks ago

Ask Nintendo, it doesn’t change what I said. Go inform yourself before spreading misinformation.

    1. Ellie Roberts · 2 weeks ago

My bad it says in tiny text it includes the upgrade code. There is no need to be rude about it. I was simply confused.

Not sure that you can play It on Sw1 if you take the Switch2 editon… BUT:
    (My Country prices)
    – By buying this bundle you save about 10€
    – By buying the base Switch2 and Game through Coupon you save about 20€ (but you need to buy the SW2 upgrade so you save 10€)
-By buying the Console +MKWorld and ZA separate (Base console for me its 450€ and 475€ with MK) so you Will spend) you will spend and extra 20€ but you get and extra game. For clarification –> a Coupon costs 100€ but you can pick up 2 games so i consider It 50€ –> All that being said Legend ZA sucks (my opinioni)

    1. Lauren Harvey · 1 week ago

It just came out how can you say it sucks already

Imagine giving advice about stuff you never experienced yourself.

    1. Kimberly Parker · 1 week ago

Do you really wanna experience 2D balconies?

      1. Anthony Thompson · 1 week ago

I literally just replayed entire 2d pokemon games on gameboy.

      2. Hotaru Inagaki · 1 week ago

I tend to not rely on advice about the whole game written by someone who haven’t even played it.

        1. George Greene · 1 week ago

Yet you go complaining about others giving suggestions

        2. Serenity Shelton · 2 days ago

Except I already have the game. It’s nice but some things just look bad. They can and should put more effort into their games.

          1. Luna Day · 2 days ago

Thats a nice and constructive reply. And i say that It Is Indeed a nice game BUT not worth that price

    2. Yoshio Nitta · 5 days ago

So by looking at gameplay footage u cant develop AN opinion? 3/10 ragebait. Cant you defend what i mentioned about the graphic?

  13. Grayson Arnold · 1 week ago

You are incorrect in this particular case. Pokémon ZA SW2 CAN be used on the SW1.

  14. Caroline Jimenez · 4 days ago

Gotta keep in mind, this virtual card can only be in one switch at a time. It will prompt you to load it from one switch to another if you’re trying to play it.

    1. Simon Richter · 4 days ago

And your save doesn’t come with it but you can transfer it

      1. Helen Murphy · 4 days ago

Moving saves takes about 10 seconds, not too hard.

    2. Erik Ruf · 4 days ago

Wouldn’t it be easier in this case to switch to Online License and keep the switches online?

      1. Akiko Yonezawa · 4 days ago

I believe this would result in the same issue. Because only 1 virtual cart can be on any console

        1. Andrew Stewart · 4 days ago

Yeah but they won’t have to keep doing it each time they switch consoles. Just load it on one switch and use the online license checker on the second switch. Also will allow them to play the same game at the same time with WiFi off on the console that has the virtual cart loaded.

  15. Risa Sakamoto · 3 days ago

I think it should? I got the switch 2 version of Silksong and I’m able to play the switch 1 version on my OLED I don’t see why you couldn’t do the same here
