Windows 10 IoT LTSC is an upgrade, just like XP was always better than Vista. The board should fire Nadella and his replacement should shut down any future Windows 11 development and have the next version based on Windows 10 IoT LTSC. That’s how they had to handle the Windows Vista flop to get to Windows 7. The only reason the stock is up is because of the AI and cloud services bubble and the hype surrounding it, just like the web bubble and web hype of the 1990s. Every boneheaded tech company executive team looked like geniuses until the bubble popped. I still recall the articles about how AOL was a good investment. The media is the last to figure out what reality is. Spreading corporate hype for insider access is their primary occupation.
This is wrong, Windows 7 was based directly off Windows Vista SP2. You are getting mistaken with Longhorn, that got into such a mess they had to go back to Server 2003 and start again to create Vista.
If you prefer Windows 10, then 10 LTSC 21H2 is your best bet.
I’d suggest trying out Windows 11 IoT LTSC or Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC before settling on Windows 10 IoT LTSC. My 5 year old thinkpad X12 is snappy on Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC, about the same as Windows 10 IoT LTSC: both much, much faster than Windows 10 home was with all its bloat.
How is the telemetry and spyware in windows 11 compare the regular home/pro with the iot ltsc?
Gotcha. Downloading that now
Windows 11 iot enterprise ltsc feels the same as pro , but with less bloat , you should go with 10 iot enterprise ltsc if you want to feel the ui faster.
Respectfully, I disagree. 11 IoT is nice and fast, for me, the same as 10 Pro.
windows 11 ltsc is the same os as pro but with different edition , basically less apps installed by default , win 10 ltsc is different os version compared to w11 , so you cant say w11 ltsc is faster than 11 pro because it have less app installed.
Sure thing, but much of that bloatware is causing 11 Pro to sometimes crawl entire system. 11 IoT doesn’t have that, plus, it’s 2025, for sure you have to go in and turn more things off and eventually youll get modern OS that work just as fine as 10. Everyone should that this opportunity, I’m not sure Microsoft will give us this choice next time around.
yea , im expecting w11 to shit itself when copilot take over, linux is not good , w10 is out of support , its like we are blocked.
IMHO, it already did, I have to use 11 Pro on my work PC that is more powerful than my home one, and it’s a lot slower, God knows what’s going on in there, and we’re not allowed to tweak it and I don’t even want to, we’re working with old. Net code, if it works, just leave it be. It was hassle to get SQL server working properly, 10 was lot more convenient, I have to say. 10 IoT is also good thing, but I don’t think devs are going to support it for modern apps until 2032. Also, 11 is much better for modern Intel and AMD CPU’s, so we all need to get the next best thing and that is 11 IoT, the only proper Windows on the market currently.
who knows , probabily they will keep supporting w10 more than windows 7 because w11 is almost the same as w10.
win10 iot enterprise ltsc is your choice.
Mine too. On my potato it’s faster than W11 iot ltsc.
yeah the « flavour » is secondary option here. I’m asking – for those who have downgraded, what’s their experience like?
i moved to win 11 because i have a feel that developers will end the support for win 10 .
Not sure when but looks like microsoft hurry this things.
so what would be your recommendation? directly jumping to Win10 or jumping to Win11 and using the CTT tool?
I’m staying on win10 as long as possible. Only use it to game and it’s in a vm. Easy to upgrade to 11 anytime, not so easy to downgrade
well , its feels faster thats all .
I think its using the same resources as win 11 iot enterprise ltsc.
i guess you can use crish titus tool to turn all the services to manual because you dont need all of them to run on background doing nothing.
I have a EliteBook with a ryzen 4650U and Windows 10 IoT LTSC is much faster for me. But I really only use the browser and office365. On Windows 11 IoT even opening the explorer took some time.
win 10 ltsc is what u need
>Ryzen 7 5500U – 8C 16T That can’t be right, either it’s a Ryzen 5 5500U which is 6 core 12 threads or it’s a Ryzen 7 5700U which is the one that’s 8 core 16 threads Either way both 11 LTSC IoT 2024 and 10 LTSC IoT 2021 should do a good job at speeding it up, though it shouldn’t need it so I’m quite sure it’s OEM bloatware slowing it down
